Silvàn Lopez
Founder, CEO & Chairman of the Board
Silvàn founded Velaris Ventures in 2019 after 15 years structuring complex transactions across private equity, technology and real estate. He has led or advised on €2.1Bn+ in M&A, growth equity and strategic investments spanning Europe, North America and emerging markets. Prior to Velaris, he held senior roles in corporate development and investment banking, specializing in cross-border M&A, carve-outs and growth capital structuring. He holds degrees in Finance and International Business and is fluent in English, French and Spanish. Based in Sion, Valais, Silvàn leads Velaris' investment strategy, capital allocation and board governance across the €874M portfolio.
Jean-Marie de Saint-Ange
Vice-Chairman | Former Partner, Goldman Sachs
22 years at Goldman Sachs across Paris, London and New York. Jean-Marie led M&A advisory for European mid-market companies and later specialized in private wealth management for UHNW families and family offices. He brings deep expertise in capital markets, cross-border structuring and strategic advisory, guiding governance, investor relations and partnerships with European family offices. Educated at HEC Paris and London Business School.
James Byrne
Board Member | Serial Technology Entrepreneur
Three successful technology exits across SaaS, FinTech infrastructure and AI-powered sales intelligence. Former VP Engineering at Stripe, where he scaled the payments infrastructure team from 12 to 200+ engineers. James provides Velaris with deep technology expertise, go-to-market insight and a network across Silicon Valley and European tech ecosystems, and leads technical due diligence for software investments. Stanford Computer Science.
Dr. Isabella Marchetti
Board Member | AI Research Director
PhD in Computer Science from MIT focused on machine learning applications in healthcare and industrial automation. Former Director of AI Research at DeepMind, where she led projects in reinforcement learning and computer vision. Isabella advises Velaris on AI and deep-tech investments, providing technical due diligence and strategic guidance for portfolio companies deploying ML/AI. She sits on the scientific advisory boards of three European AI companies.
Alexandre Fontaine
Board Member | Real Estate Developer
30 years developing luxury real estate across Switzerland, France and Monaco, delivering €1.8Bn+ in high-end residential, hospitality and mixed-use projects in Geneva, Verbier, Crans-Montana and Monaco. He guides Velaris' real estate strategy, deal sourcing and asset management for the €312M property portfolio, with expertise spanning site acquisition, entitlements, construction management and luxury hospitality operations. Graduate of EPFL.
Nadia Al-Rashid
Board Member | Middle East Investment Specialist
18 years managing sovereign wealth capital at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and the Qatar Investment Authority, leading cross-border investments in technology, infrastructure and real estate across EMEA and North America. Based in Dubai, she brings Velaris access to Middle Eastern capital, strategic partnerships and deal flow in growth markets, and oversees MENA relationships and co-investments with Gulf family offices. MBA from INSEAD.
Henrik Lindström
Board Member | Nordic Private Equity Veteran
Former Managing Partner at EQT Partners, one of Europe's largest private equity firms, where he spent 16 years leading industrial buyouts, carve-outs and operational transformations across Scandinavia and Northern Europe. He provides Velaris with private equity expertise, operational value-creation playbooks and a Nordic network, chairs the investment committee and leads diligence for buyout and growth opportunities. Stockholm School of Economics MBA.
Sophie Durand
Board Member | General Counsel
Former partner at Linklaters Geneva specializing in M&A, private equity law and cross-border structuring, having advised on 100+ transactions totaling €12Bn+ in deal value across technology, healthcare and industrial sectors. Sophie serves as Velaris' lead governance advisor, ensuring regulatory compliance, fiduciary excellence and best-practice corporate governance. University of Geneva Law; admitted in Switzerland and France.
Michael Chen
Board Member | Asia-Pacific Strategy
15 years at Temasek Holdings in Singapore, rising to Managing Director overseeing technology and consumer investments across Asia-Pacific. Michael provides Velaris with Asian market insight, deal sourcing across Singapore, China and India, and strategic guidance for portfolio companies expanding into APAC. Based in Singapore, he chairs Velaris' Asia advisory board. National University of Singapore; MBA from Harvard Business School.
Gabriela Hernández
Board Member | Latin America Expert
Former COO at Mercado Libre, Latin America's largest e-commerce platform, where she scaled operations across 18 countries and oversaw logistics, payments and marketplace operations. She advises Velaris on Latin American opportunities, provides operational expertise for scaling businesses and maintains a network of entrepreneurs and investors across Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Colombia. Thomas Ashford
Board Member | Former McKinsey Senior Partner
16 years at McKinsey & Company serving clients across London, Dubai and New York, specializing in corporate strategy, M&A, post-merger integration and operational transformation for private equity-backed companies. He brings Velaris strategic advisory capabilities, operational playbooks and McKinsey methodologies for portfolio value creation, and leads quarterly business reviews with management teams. Dr. Yuki Tanaka
Board Member | Technology & Innovation Advisor
PhD in Engineering from Tokyo University and former CTO at Sony Innovation Labs, where she led R&D in robotics, quantum computing and next-generation materials, with 25 patents filed. Yuki advises Velaris on deep-tech investments, provides technical due diligence for hardware and software companies and maintains a network across Asian technology ecosystems. She chairs Velaris' Technology Advisory Board.

Founder and Chairman of Velaris Ventures, Silvàn sets the firm's investment strategy and capital allocation across the €874M portfolio. He combines institutional rigor with entrepreneurial vision, having structured €2.1Bn+ in transactions across private equity, technology and real estate over fifteen years before launching Velaris in 2019.
Laurent Beaumont
Chief Investment Officer
19 years in private equity at Carlyle Group and Permira, leading investments across technology, healthcare and industrial sectors. Laurent has closed 40+ transactions totaling €4.5Bn in enterprise value and served on 15 portfolio company boards. He oversees deal sourcing, due diligence, transaction execution and portfolio monitoring, and chairs the weekly investment committee. HEC Paris; MBA from Wharton; CFA charterholder.
Elena Volkova
Chief Financial Officer
Former Finance Director EMEA at Nestlé, managing €8Bn+ P&L and leading corporate finance, treasury and FP&A teams across 24 countries. Elena oversees fund accounting, LP reporting, treasury management, tax planning and regulatory compliance, and leads fundraising and investor relations for Velaris' investment vehicles. Marcus Sheffield
Managing Director, Technology & AI
Serial technology entrepreneur with two successful exits and a former Partner at Accel, where he led Series A/B investments in European software companies. Marcus leads Velaris' technology investment thesis, sources deals across AI, SaaS, cybersecurity and developer infrastructure, and serves on the boards of six portfolio companies. Camille Rousseau
Managing Director, Real Estate & Hospitality
14 years at Blackstone Real Estate Group investing in European hospitality, mixed-use developments and luxury residential, having deployed €2.2Bn in real estate equity across 30+ properties. Camille leads Velaris' €312M real estate portfolio, overseeing acquisitions, asset management, development projects and exits. ESSEC Business School; MRICS designation.
Adrian Castellano
General Counsel & Head of Legal
Former partner at Clifford Chance specializing in private equity M&A, fund formation and cross-border structuring, having advised on 200+ transactions totaling €25Bn+ in deal value across Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. Adrian leads all legal matters at Velaris and manages relationships with external counsel across jurisdictions. University College London Law; solicitor, England & Wales.
Priya Kapoor
Head of ESG & Impact Strategy
Former Director of Sustainability at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where she built ESG integration frameworks for €50Bn+ in AUM and developed impact-measurement methodologies. Priya oversees ESG due diligence, impact reporting and responsible investing across the portfolio, and manages the Velaris Foundation and community programs in the Valais region. David O'Connor
Head of Portfolio Operations
Former COO at three high-growth technology companies, scaling operations from Series B to IPO readiness. David specializes in KPI frameworks, operational excellence, board governance and exit preparation, working hands-on with portfolio management teams on scaling playbooks, executive hiring and systems implementation.
